BALTIMORE — The fourth annual US Lacrosse Southeast Championships bring youth lacrosse teams from eight states to the WRAL Soccer Center in Raleigh, N.C., Friday through Sunday. The tournament, run by the national governing body of lacrosse, features boys’ teams in the U13 and U15 age groups and girls’ teams in the U15 age group.
Each division gets underway with pool-play games beginning at 5 p.m. Friday. Based on pool-play results, teams will be seeded and proceed through a bracket until a champion is crowned. Championship games are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission to all games is free of charge.
In the U15 division, the semifinalists will earn automatic bids with free or discounted registration to the sixth annual US Lacrosse U15 National Championships July 21-23 in Aurora, Colo. Teams from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia have registered for the Southeast Championships.
The Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance will randomly select two programs that brought multiple teams to win $500 registration credits. US Lacrosse will name a “Keeper of Lacrosse” Sportsmanship Award winner at each championship. Certified athletic trainers are on site, and there is no admission charge for spectators.
Gatorade is the official sports drink of the US Lacrosse Southeast Championships. LaxSnax is a supporting sponsor. Follow the Southeast Championships on Twitter @uslaxchamps.
