FIL Women’s World Cup Schedule Announced

The U.S. women's national team, the two-time defending world champion, will open play at the 2017 FIL Rathbones Women’s Lacrosse World Cup on July 13 against Scotland. The event, which is taking place July 12-22 at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford, England, includes 25 nations.

The opening ceremony will kick off the event on July 12, followed by host England playing Wales on the championship pitch at 6 p.m.

Maryland coach Cathy Reese knows what it takes to be successful. In her 11-year tenure with the Terps, she has won three national titles, including back-to-back crowns in 2014 and 2015. She was named the IWLCA National Coach of the Year for the third time in 2015 after leading the Terps to the Big Ten regular season title. However, Reese continually preaches that it’s not about the awards and the honors. In order to be the best, both players and coaches need to have the drive to succeed. It’s about earning it.
