US Lacrosse is gearing up for Celebrate Diversity Month throughout April. Starting April 9th and every Tuesday after, we are conducting a webinar series that focuses on Cultural Competency, Lacrosse & the LGBTQ community, Athletes & Disability, and Lacrosse & Mental Health. A variety of speakers who will discuss each topic and answer questions after their presentation. 

Registration for these webinars is free of charge and they are available thanks to the generous support of our nearly 450,000 US Lacrosse members nationwide and our donors. 

Celebrate Diversity Month: Cultural Competency 

Kicking off the Celebrate Diversity Month webinar series on April 9 will be Dr. Brian Gearity, Director of the Master of Arts in Sport Coaching Program at the University of Denver. Dr. Gearity will be discussing coaching and cultural competency as it pertains to the lacrosse community at large. 


Celebrate Diversity Month: Lacrosse & the LGBTQ Community

On April 16, we welcome Cavender Salvadori, Program Manager at the You Can Play Project, an organization whose mission is dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and safety for all athletes, without regard to sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Cavender will lead a discussion on lacrosse and the LGBTQ community. Points of emphasis will include how we can create an inclusive culture within the lacrosse community for all players, parents and supporters.  


Celebrate Diversity Month: Adaptive Lacrosse 

US Lacrosse is excited to welcome back Marty Delaney, coach and founder of Parkville Adaptive Lacrosse, on April 23rd to lead a panel discussion on working with players and families who experience the sport with a wide range of disabilities. 


Celebrate Diversity Month: Lacrosse & Mental Health

Finishing out our Celebrate Diversity Month webinar series on April 30 is Gordon Corsetti, former manager of the men’s officials’ development program at US Lacrosse. Gordon will discuss the importance of awareness from coaches and the lacrosse community to spot athletes who are dealing with mental illness.

The Education and Training Department of US Lacrosse will be conducting webinars throughout the season to help coaches, officials and league leaders be more effective in their efforts.
