SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse today added six lacrosse tournaments owned and operated by Bitter Lacrosse, Inc., to its lineup of sanctioned events.

The US Lacrosse tournament sanctioning program represents an initiative to raise the quality of the youth tournament experience and publicize events that meet operational criteria developed by US Lacrosse and industry experts.

“Bitter Lacrosse takes pride in the unique, family oriented and competitive experience of their tournaments,” said E.W. Bitter, president of Bitter Lacrosse. “Improvements to the tournament operations are a constant goal of the Bitter Lacrosse team. We are excited to have our events receive US Lacrosse sanctioning. It is a great opportunity to ensure we implement best practices at our events and serves as a useful seal-of-approval tool for prospective teams.”

Sanctioned tournaments have been deemed by the sport’s national governing body to meet best-practice standards in five categories: venue, game format, risk management, tournament administration, and certified US Lacrosse officials.

The designation has been given to these events, which include divisions of play for boys and girls: Texas Lax Festivals II (May 27-28 in Lockhart, Texas), Palmetto Lax Classic II (June 24-25 in Charleston, S.C.), Stow Lax Festival I (July 15-16 in Stowe, Vt.), and Palmetto Lax Classic I (dates TBA in Charleston, S.C.).

Two boys’ tournaments have been sanctioned: Stow Lax Festival II (July 22-23 in Stowe, Vt.) and Texas Lax Festival I (dates TBA in Lockhart, Texas).

“Our tournament sanctioning program helps to give parents, who foot the bill for their child’s participation, some peace of mind that a US Lacrosse Sanctioned Tournament meets certain standards for consistency and player safety,” said Kim Rogers, director of events at US Lacrosse. “We’re thrilled to have the diverse lineup of events from Bitter Lacrosse join a growing list of tournament directors committed to providing a great youth lacrosse tournament experience.”
