US Lacrosse, the national governing body of men’s and women’s lacrosse, is joining with other national youth organizations as participants at the congressional Youth Sports Expo on Tuesday, July 12 at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. The event is being organized by the National Council of Youth Sports (NCYS) to help celebrate National Youth Sports Week.

The expo will offer physical activity stations and information display tables for members of congress and their staffs. Those members wishing to experience various sports skills will have the opportunity for hands-on participation with lacrosse, basketball, speed skating, soccer and football, among other activities. The expo is also open to the public.

US Lacrosse is a member of the NCYS, which is well-known for promoting healthy lifestyles and safe environments in support of stronger neighborhoods and communities.

“As a member of the NCYS, we are committed to the shared vision of enhancing the youth sports experience in America,” said Ann Kitt Carpenetti, vice president of lacrosse operations at US Lacrosse. “There is significant research that shows the developmental benefits of physical activity and healthy competition among youth, and we want to help in promoting opportunities and removing barriers to participation for all youth.”

As part of its commitment to providing strong and effective leadership, US Lacrosse seeks to serve as a national thought-leader for the sport and to provide meaningful advocacy on behalf of its 450,000 members.

US Lacrosse joins other national organizations, including the Sports & Fitness Industry Association, Pop Warner Football, United States Polo Association, National Amateur Baseball Federation, USA Cheer, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in supporting the Youth Sports Expo and National Youth Sports Week.

The National Council of Youth Sports comprises the who's who in the youth sports industry. Founded in 1979, the NCYS membership represents more than 200 organizations/corporations serving 60,000,000 registered participants in organized youth sports programs.
