Today, US Lacrosse was humbled and honored to receive a piece of steel from the World Trade Center, presented to us from our lacrosse family at the FDNY, NYPD and Port Authority. The lacrosse community suffered greatly from the tragedy on September 11, 2001 with more than 60 people with connections to the sport dying in the terrorist attacks.

US Lacrosse planned to build a memorial to honor those lost and that goal became a reality this year with the construction of our new headquarters in Sparks, Md. Kris Snider, a landscape architect from Seattle and former All-American player at the University of Virginia, designed the memorial. In the following video, he describes his inspiration and the process for the memorial.

The US Lacrosse Foundation helps US Lacrosse close the gap between membership revenue and the cost of inspiring participation in – and fostering the responsible growth of – America’s first sport. Every gift matters.
