Video: Highlights from Denver-Princeton on Tierney Field

Legendary coach Bill Tierney brought his University of Denver team to play against his old school, Princeton University, on October 15 in the first college game played on the field named in his honor — William G. Tierney Field at US Lacrosse headquarters. Tierney was the coach at Princeton from 1988 to 2009, winning six national championships, and then went west to Denver, taking over the Pioneers program in 2010. He led Denver to its first national championship in 2015. His former players led the fundraising effort to have the field named in his honor.

US Lacrosse WallBall Challenge Benefits Everyone

When Gavin Jones’ coach sent out an email encouraging his players to try out the US Lacrosse WallBall Challenge, Jones (right in the above picture) figured it would give him something to do over the summer to fight boredom. He got a lot more.

After 111,111 reps, he wore out the leather in his gloves, put blisters on his hands, found ingenious ways for his parents to pack his rebounder into the car for family vacations, met a new friend from across the country and accomplished exactly what his coach was hoping for.

Ed Calkins, US Lacrosse Foundation Board chair, was in the midst of fundraising for the National Campaign for Lacrosse —a $15 million capital campaign which helped result in the construction of new headquarters for US Lacrosse —when he decided on a special initiative. He, like many of his other colleagues, wanted to dedicate a piece of US Lacrosse's new headquarters to a legend of the game.
