Through intentional, deliberate and meaningful actions and investment, US Lacrosse seeks to lead efforts to make lacrosse a more inclusive, accessible and tolerant sport - where anyone can play and everyone feels welcome and respected.
As part of that commitment, US Lacrosse has created an online training tool focused on cultural competency. This resource is designed to assist lacrosse organizations in further educating coaches, parents, and athletes about the impact of diversity and inclusion. The training is offered to everyone, free of charge.
A free US Lacrosse account is needed to access the Cultural Competency course. Follow these 3 easy steps:
- Begin by clicking the “Log In” tab in the upper right corner of uslacrosse.org. Create a free profile, and then login via the “My Account” option.
- Once logged in to “My Account”, click on the E-LEARNING tab in the navigation menu.
- Type “Cultural Competency” in the Find a Course search browser and you will be directed into the course.
You’ll have full access to a host of interviews, best practices and additional resources.
The online training is divided into four topic modules:
- Social class
- Inclusive leadership
The cultural competency online training is an educational offering from the USL Level 1 Coaches Development Certification Program.
Note: A new youth-oriented Cultural Competency course is now in development and will be available soon. Please check back again for this new resource from US Lacrosse.
